One of the most common surgeries in all American states, including Florida, is one that is carried out by Dr Ingram and many other plastic surgeons; Facelift Surgery. All reputable surgeons will give you an aftercare programme detailing how you should manage your recovery as the recovery from facelift surgery is an extensive process.

First 24 Hours

Dr. Alton Ingram recommends that you should avoid being alone for the first 24 hours after surgery. On about day three or four, after your surgery, the swelling and bruising should be at its worst.

The First Week

As with all surgical procedures, you should listen to what your body is telling you, some people feel happy enough to potter around the house, as early as two or three days after the surgery, whereas some people will need to spend the whole week resting. Your range of motion should be fully recovered within the first week.

A pain medication drug will be prescribed by Dr.  Ingram and should be taken as discussed with him. This can care for any stiffness that you may feel and thus enable you to become active sooner. It is important that you are up and about and moving as soon as you can as this will aid circulation and help you get back to being yourself.

Week 2

From day 7 onwards some patients report strange sensations such as tingling or burning, again this can be quite normal but if in any doubt consult Dr. Ingram.

Weeks 3-4

Three to four weeks after your surgery you will be ready to get back into your normal life and routine and return to work with very little visible issues, apart from the surgical improvements.

It is still wise to wait a few more weeks before carrying out any strenuous exercise and it is also very important that you stay out of the sun for a little while longer. When you are in the sun you should always apply a high factor facial sunscreen.

The approximate life span of a scar is one year, so, while your incisions will improve day by day, it may take months before they have faded as much as you would like them to. Remember that you will be the one who notices the changes much more than anyone else and that they are rather subtle. It will be hard for anyone else to tell that you have had work done.

Now go and enjoy the new you!
