Most of us have probably been to at least one or two theme parks in our time, some better than others. Similarly, there are some rides that are more popular than others, whether for their speed, thrilling appeal, or theme. But just because some rides aren’t as popular as others, does that mean they’re bad? Not necessarily. In the case of Universal Studios, there are plenty of memorable rides that, while not as grand as, say, The Hulk or The Mummy, are worth the wait in line. If you’re planning a trip to Universal soon, be sure to check out these rides before you leave.
Popeye and Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges
Popeye is an old character that many kids today might not be very familiar with, but that doesn’t mean his ride at Universal should be overlooked. This fun water ride will leave you and a handful of others in your barge soaked from head to toe, but it’s one of the most charming and old-school water rides in the park. With more and more IPs joining the park, it’s good to see that some of the originals still remain.
Men in Black: Alien Attack
Men in Black is a nostalgic flashback for many parents. Men in Black differs from the typical coaster or 4D adventure by adopting the rails-shooter approach, allowing riders to aim for the high-score as they blast their way through hordes of aliens. This ride had been around for a while, and it could be replaced any day now, so you’d better experience it while you can!
Flight of the Hippogriff
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is the most popular aspect of Universal, and with rides like Escape from Gringotts, shops like Olivander’s, and scrumptious drinks like butterbeer, that’s no surprise for Potterheads. However, Flight of the Hippogriff is a great ride, too. While it is aimed towards a younger audience, there is plenty of enjoyment here for teens and adults as well. If you’re a Harry Potter fan, don’t skip over this one!
E.T. Adventure
Stephen Spielberg’s creation was brought to life with the park’s addition of E.T. Adventure. Parkgoers can hop on their own bike and fly over the town just like in the movie! All the effects are practical and leave a sense of nostalgia for those that were around when the film was first released or remember watching it as a kid. While it is much slower-paced than other rides in the park, we’re glad that Stephen objected to its removal.

Whether you’re needing time off work, having repair work done to your house from something like roof storm damage, or simply need to get out of the house and take a proper vacation, a few days at a theme park is the perfect place to spend your time. They’ve got shows, games, shops, food, and, of course, plenty of exceptional rides—both popular and underrated alike.
