Yoli Oquely Veliz, from San José del Golfo, pleads Metropolitan Archbishop Oscar Julio Vian Morales to support in their “dignified and peaceful struggle.” Since March 2nd, 2012, local neighbors from San José del Golfo and San Pedro Ayampuc have blocked the entrance to Canadian Radius Gold’s local subsidiary EXMINGUA gold mine. Residents from the communities claim the industrial activity in their territories as illegal since they were not appropriately consulted before the mine began operating.
