There WAS a reason why you weren’t allowed to join the street rally. Although you may not have known it at the time, the “Reclaim the Power” protest had been already declared illegal an hour before you reached the bridge because the protesters attacked the cops. It turned into chaos where people were getting hurt, and the police were preventing you from joining 1) so you don’t get hurt and end up arrested with the rest of the bunch, and 2) because they were trying to contain and diffuse the fighting. I really wish it HAD been just a peaceful People’s Assembly in the street, and it’s too bad for all of us that some folks chose to spoil it.

I was on that bridge too. It was insane. Like you said, there shouldn’t have been any reason for us not being allowed to join those on the other side– we wern’t advancing towards any world leaders or comprimising the building capacity of the Bella Center. How police have decided to deal with the marches here was very disturbing.

It is so inspiring seeing what you all are doing there, though the violence is very scary. Try to stay safe, I’ll keep looking for more updates. Thanks for posting this, I’m sure you must be exhausted but it’s so helpful to be able to read dispatches from the inside.
