According to the link above the population of Ethiopia was 32 million in 1975. It has more than doubled since then. The evil West and Zenawi appear to have failed spectacularly at genocide. According to several sources the main reasons for deforestation in Ethiopia are cooking fuel and housing needs. It appears that the large population and gross inefficiency are the reasons for Ethiopian deforestation though I do believe that poor government has allowed it to happen.

I am not African. What I have seen of Ethiopia through film documentary has given the impression of a failed people though that was not the obvious intent of the films. There are no windbreaks around farmland. There are not enough wells. There is little to no water management even though Ethiopia has huge water resources. People insist that education is important and that is good but there is not any visible education in the home.

The poo slinging in the above comments is uninformative as there are no links to sober factual references regarding the sale of land and genocide. I think that Ethiopia would have been better served if you had not posted and instead spent the time making a halfway efficient stove or planted a tree.

I agree that one team to represent Africa is laughably inadequate.
