I have long wondered about the ecological viability of the way we grow our traditional Chinese medicine herbs mostly in Asia, and then ship them to American where I practice. If we grow the herbs in America, we don&#039;t know how the medicinal properties will be changed due to different soil and environmental conditions. However shipping them all from China increases the carbon footprint, though slow shipping isn&#039;t as bad as flying...

Still, it is true that mankind&#039;s affect on the environment can be looked as as a heat-producing pathological influence (or &quot;evil heat&quot; in ancient Chinese medicine terms).

We can &quot;clear the heat&quot; but adding herbs to the global environment. Perhaps that means medicinal herbs to be taken by people, or simple growing more forests to better capture CO2. Either is fine by me. :)]]></description>
