At 12:18 today, a small crowd of people gathered in flash mob style on the Dam Square in the heart of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. They were one of thousands of events around the world in an international Global Climate Wake UP Call. Organized by the TckTckTck campaign and Avaaz.org, the events are still happening across the globe as I write and I am sure we will see more posts shortly.

The NEW GREEN: The CO2 theory we reject. Now is the time to protect, preserve and respect.
Dear Meme Mine,
I fail to understand the point of your post. I don’t believe any of the ‘warmies’ look anyone, whatever age, in the eye and say you are going to die. To suggest such reflects an attitude that is steeped in values that are contradictory to your ‘protect, preserve and respect’.
I’m not the one going around telling children that we have SAVE the planet for them. I’m not the one telling our kids that the planet may die soon from CO2. I’m not the one going around believing politicians like Al Gore that say they are going to lower the temperature of the planet with your tax money and my tax money.
The NEW GREEN rejects this 23 year old CO2 theory and rejects calling for the end of days like some religious bible thumpers of environ MENTAL ism do. I’m not the one supporting using valuable farm land to GROW fuel to burn instead of pulling fuel out of the ground and using it wisely while we seek new energy sources.
Stop this fear mongering panic and preserve, protect and respect our world. Not save and rescue it from a CO2 mistake.
The CO2 theory is dead and so it’s not about pollution so let’s leave the lying and moralizing to the neocons and let’s not make climate change OUR WMD SCAM!
Get ahead of the curve because history will view global warming as modern day witch burning.
If you love this planet, try embracing it, experiencing it and learning more about it before you right it off as soon to be dead.

Hmmm, Meme Mine, you are a bit too aggressive. No one is telling their children they will die. In fact, I believe most of us think the opposite, and that’s the point of the Wake Up Call. We are showing that we have faith in our politicians to prevent the catastrophic effects of climate change if they start taking it seriously. So, yeah, no mention of death or kids eyes being looked into (what is that all about anyways?!) or your tax money. Just asking our global leaders to do their job….

I am glad that you are not going around telling kids that the planet will die soon. Neither am I. I am going around telling them that we can have a sustainable future, built on a sustainable and green economy that will help ensure the survival of all nations and peoples.
If you had bothered to read the post and do some checking, you might have discovered that the Wake Up Call was directed at politicians and decision makers, not at kids as you have latched on to. If you have anything useful to say about the post, I will be happy to read it, but while you continue to spew unsubstantiated comments, it isn’t worth time to continue engaging with it.

Then you if you are so admirably concerned about your fellow humans via sustainability (me too), you should be absolutely outraged at the entire environ MENTAL movement committed to the Climate Change theory that says human induced CO2 will cause a climate crisis. Promising a crisis for my kids is fear mongering.
Denounce this 23 year old failed theory and be glad for your fellow human beings that the world’s longest emergency is over. Think about that point please the next time you hear one of your friends go on about evil carbon,
If you still believe in this dead theory you are promising a living hell, (climate crisis), for everyone and history I promise will just show how utterly irresponsible this climate change issue was.
Have you even heard of Rachel Carson, the real environmentalist that helped us defeat the smoggy 70’s when a river caught fire in Ohio USA, and brought us all sorts of protections, laws, standards and environmental awareness. Take away this CO2 factor from the equation and you have a world that is better than the smoggy 70’s but needs to invent new energy technologies because of peak oil. Let’s face the future of progress together with courage and pass the word on as good news for a change.
I’m saying that fear does not have to be accepted as the only motivator. Maybe that’s half the problem? It starts with you and I to realize that we knew all along that the world wasn’t really coming to an end because of us, it just seemed like an acceptable white lie to promote the most important issue we have on this crowded planet, that being environmentalism, responsible environmentalism. Otherwise things WILL get worse as another 23 years of predicting doom despite it not arriving is certainly not sustainable for another 23 years. Global Dooming as history may call it, is such a low level of mass intellect that it could possibly drag us down into a new dark age of fear and ignorance.
Do the right thing, denounce this climate change theory and join the future called the NEWGREEN movement. Preserve, protect and respect our world.

Meme – please check out the science before you go mouthing off about how its a myth. Check out the IPCC – thousands of scientists that peer-reviewed a consensus saying that climate change is happening FASTER than they predicted.
There is an overwhelming scientific consensus. Please accept it, and move forward with us to build a sustainable future.
The scientists, the scientists, the scientists. Insert bible and God and Jesus and it’s the same thing as debating the existence of what we can’t see or experience; God and Climate Crisis. I’ve waited 23 years. You can’t keep this level of urgency going for another 23 years.
History will not be kind to you, leading us to war against an invisible and non existent enemy of CO2 killing the (sorry), causing climate crisis.
The best a committed warmie like you and an committed denier like me can hope for is a battle of your scientist vs. my scientist but then again I’m just an evil denier being fed lies by the oil companies, correct?

Why can’t we leave the demonizing, moralizing and fear mongering to the neocons. It’s too late now prevent history viewing climate change the carbon phobia as our WMD scam. It’s time we admitted it and moved on to real problems like real pollution and societies other problems.

Even stick in the mud engineers like me have heard of Rachel Carson. Although I recall that she died in 1964 and the Cuyahoga River Fire occurred in 1969, so I am not sure she was too involved…
Seriously, one thing she discussed in “Silent Spring” was the problem of trying to determine a problem when the symptoms occur slowly over long periods of time versus immediate and direct feedback.
It would be easy if the climate issue were like tracking smoking or cholera, but just because a problem is detected over many years using data not as accessible to laypersons doesn’t make it nonexistent.
I do not think there should be any mass panic, but on the other hand we cannot be too inactive either. Historians are not too sympathetic to whoever chopped down the last palm tree on Easter Island…

What’s left if you remove the theory? How bad is it? Is it bad at all?
Do you not like the fact that we are living longer now than at any point in history as a species despite our so-called toxic environment and access to quality health care?
Worry if you like about real pollution but please don’t go around with this death threat on my kid’s heads.

Why you warmies work harder at believing this misery than you do at keeping an open mind to this bizzare theory is kind of sick really. Like why would you hope the thereat of death by CO2 to be true despite none of us experiencing this crisis besides pictures of polar bears on this site.
It’s a belief system you have and faith for a modern day superstition. Since the theory is wrong, and 23 years of predictions proves it, it can be called officially a superstition.
It’s not a conspiracy theory, it’s just wrong, a mistake.

The video breaks down if you conclude that CO2 and climate change are all baloney (i.e., all you do is guarantee high economic cost for nothing). The science, while better (e.g., we now have sediment cores reaching back 50-60 million years), it is still rather abstract for the lay public.
