From the Front Lines of the G20: A Global Climate Wake-Up Call

President Obama and Prime Minister Harper are going to be two of the four featured G20 leaders in tomorrow's action, sleeping on the job as the world demands stronger international climate policy this December. The DC Action Factory has hit the ground running in Pittsburgh, with our time drawing near to the first mass action of the G20 week: a global wake up call for climate action.

At noon tomorrow, scores will gather on the corner of 7th and Penn in downtown Pittsburgh, all with their alarm clocks set to 12:18. At that time, a cacophony of noise will sound, and the crowd will rush forward to the sleeping leaders–President Obama, Chancellor Merkel, President Medvedev, and Prime Minister Harper–who will be located in the middle of the brick square, sleeping on the job with their country’s

flags as blankets. The crowd will literally wake-up the G20 members and demand that they take bold action this week on climate policy that will lead us into a promising and productive Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen this December [the last day of this being 12/18].

Immediately following the flash mob wake up, everyone gathered will place calls to our Senators in Washington, demanding that they gear up to work diligently on climate and energy policy this fall, thus making a loud and strong flash mob on Monday (along with the 2,000+ other wake up calls worldwide) more important than ever.

The action is promised to be a fun, exciting, and easy way to plug into the many events going on in Pittsburgh this week, and will last approximately 30 minutes.

Tomorrow’s going to be huge, all over the world. Our wake up call is one of over 2,000 events around the world. This amazing coordination happens through the Tck Tck Tck campaign, which you should read about here if you haven’t heard of it yet. Also check out Kevin Grandia of Desmogblog writing about just how big and lout this is going to be.

Part of the reason this even is so huge is that its paired with a global movie release. The scary view from 2050 about just how stupid we are acting right now as a the hilarious and chilling independent movie, the Age of Stupid.

As of Today, there are 77 days until Copenhagen, and the action is only going to keep on increasing.

Keep your eyes and twitter feeds on the lookout for the Senior Citizens March to end MTR and 350.org day of action.

Amid sharp decline in fossil fuels all over the world, the world-wide overpopulation growing consistently is using up tremendous fossil fuels at an alarming pace. Especially when the own conventional resources in some dense countries is facing drastic dent, it adds up explicitly.

For that reason, it is widely accepted that the price of fossil fuels is expected to go up and up simply, which is behind major states taking a bold and speedy action in a bid to put the global economy on a sustainable and solid ground.

Relying on worthless, painful and wasteful oil wars, namely, the original source of this great recession, to waste time bickering on meaningless things and drag feet on a defining energy bill are sure to shake the embryonic effect of stimulus package that is an interim measure for build-out of a new foundation.

As with “Inaction” cost, $9trillion over the next decade in health care and social security, supposedly the same is of inaction on the most-needed energy bill. For the global economy to reign in the runaway price of fossil fuels, sustainable option will be indispensable.

As the overall oil reserve in Middle East is on the decline more that known, the region blessed with affluent sun rays also needs to ready for a new groundwork, particularly in this context AEU is beginning to concentrate on future energy and Iranian EV is rolling out recently, the countries in the region will never stand still on the surge, that means no matter what the result is, the repetitious mistake at the cost of invaluable lives and gigantic spending will end up with a heartbreaking tragedy once again.

Presently, this great recession is pitching us a serious lesson to make sure we build a bridge for future generations, otherwise, our generation, too, is falling off the cliff for certain. Here I’d say only science and innovation can meet this challenge, and the science enough to weather this storm is awaiting final assembly by way of innovation. And I think the world is eagerly looking forward to Americans’ participation, and if it were not for world-wide massive job creation, the world can not pull the economy out of the recession.

    Thank You !

Yes, there is a cowardly and comfortable ignorance to surrendering one’s individual abilities at thought and reason to the status quo of the “what’s hot” and “what’s not”, not going to kill us this week in our fear driven society. My real fear is that this barbaric level of mass intellect could drag us down into a new dark age of fear and ignorance. I don’t mean to sound snobby but I’m not the one going around saying the end is near, scaring our kids and willing to give money to politicians who promise to lower the temperature of the planet Earth. But, another generation or two will no longer respond for another 23 years of this CO2 theory turned to mass insanity. Eventually, we will have to have actually known someone who has had a person experience with global warming, or food shortages etc. But really, consider that 23 years later, a force strong enough to over-ride all natural systems to cause a climate crisis should have happened by now instead of being delayed by the La Nina, a natural force.
In a warmies mind if this CO2 theory isn’t true, it ought t be! It assumes an action and a result, punishes our greed and is the path to making everything right. No, not that right. It turns out the left is better at the WMD scamming games and moralizing than the neocons ever were.
    God help us.

Are you willing to bet that history will view the CO2 theory being valid and that threatening our children with climate death was worth it, as responsible parents, not to mention progressive civilized human beings?
I’m sorry but I can’t do this “end of the world” bit anymore without feeling like history is already laughing and cursing at me. Look your kids in the eyes please and you may rethink this environmental emergency and see this state of urgency and fear in true focus. I don’t think that supporting this CO2 theory is responsible anymore because I think don’t think that promising our kids a sick planet from CO2, for another quarter of a century is sustainable or morally accountable for another two and a half decades of predictions. And we all grapple with the confusing reality of colder temperatures yet more pictures of Polar Bears drowning and scientists saying that what we see is not what we really see.
Since precaution is the influencing force behind this 23 year old CO2 theory, I’m going to side with precaution and not let myself look anymore foolish than I feel right now as I’m telling our kids that we must save the planet for them. Simply put, I’ve waited long enough and a force strong enough to end “life as we know it-IPCC”, on the planet should have happened by now. Waiting any longer is as self fulfilling prophecy and I’m willing to bet against this theory officially as AL Gore and the political scientists and hysterical media fight it out in this media feeding frenzy. And who isn’t embarrassed by these silly headlines of global warming scientists saying CO2 will or may not be causing everything from racism to earthquakes.
Look at it this way, denying this CO2 business does not mean that you are now anti environment, it just means that we should do everything to preserve, protect and respect nature instead of trying to rescue planet Earth with needless fear from a CO2 mistake. Our air is in fact cleaner than the smoggy 70’s, a fact that all of the enviro groups admit. We just have to remove this failed CO2 threat. And at the same time we are being the NEW GREENS of environmentalism, we can still see the need for directing our energies to real issues like the carnage on our highways, poverty, recycling, energy alternatives and better health care, housing and financial opportunities for more people to achieve a higher living standard.
The NEW GREENS are not just deniers; we are the new leaders of Rachel Carson’s environmental movement who don’t want to be remembered for perpetrating this climate WMD scam concerning the obviously failed CO2 theory.
Resulting cooling disproves predicted warming. Preserve, protect and respect our worldly surroundings.
