How about natural gas energy efficiency?
Almost everything you eat and drink, wear and consume and feel, has been touched by natural gas. The problem is that natural gas is not consumed efficiently. Anywhere from 20% to 65% of all natural gas consumed is blown up chimney&#039;s across North America as HOT exhaust.
This waste energy can be recovered and then used back in the building or facility where it was consumed. The DOE states that for every million BTU&#039;s recovered from these waste exhaust gases and utilized, 118 lbs of CO2 will NOT be emitted into the atmosphere.
In some food or beverage or other industrial plants that consume a lot of natural gas, from a single natural gas appliance the energy savings can be so much that 500 or 1,000 lbs of CO2 per hour is not emitted into the atmosphere.
Needless to say they have increased the energy efficiency of that appliance, and their natural gas bills will also be lower, saving the company money.
Because less natural gas is being consumed, more natural gas can stay in storage. The more natural gas that is in storage, the lower natural gas prices will remain.
Because the energy was recovered from these waste exhaust gases, now what is leaving the chimney is COOL exhaust. The last benefit to increasing natural gas energy efficiency with this technology is that water is being created. And this water can also be utilized. Have you ever seen combusted natural gas irrigate the lawns and flower beds?
This technology is called &quot;Condensing flue gas heat recovery&quot; and it can be used to increase the energy efficiency of large buildings and facilities that use natural gas boilers for building space heating or the heating of domestic or process water, or an industrial plants washdown water. This recovered energy can even be used to heat a hotel or school or university swimming pool.
