So right! When it comes to regulating mountaintop removal, EPA must end it, not mend it. And as to the question why save a mountain? Because it's there.

[...] Mountaintop removal mining has already buried more than 800 miles of Appalachian streams and destroyed hundreds of square miles of woodlands in one of America’s biodiversity hotspots, all while both the U.S. EPA and state environmental agencies have done little to curtail the practice. That’s left it to activists to slow these projects down and prevent their irreversible damages. [...]

I personally want to thank everyone, that is taking some sort of action against MTR. I was born and raised, and still am hanging onto my roots here on Coal River. I've worked in underground mines over half my life, and have given much to this industry. Now that I'm retired, I'm fighting Massey Energy, along with other out of state coal companies, to save what we have left. We are tired of sacrificing, and we have drawn the line, but we need everyone's help in abolishing MTR. Thanks go out to every individual, that understand what is happening here. It's been a long tough fight, but now is the time we must be our strongest. We have the finish line in sight, now let's take it home. Many thanks, Chuck Nelson
