		<description><![CDATA[I often have read that modern energy use has contributed to lengthened and enhanced human life.  While I am not a big proponent of technological determinism, I would think that some of our previous social improvements were made possible by increased energy use and electrification (e.g., electronics in health care, more precise environmental monitoring, etc.).]]></description>
