I understand to some degree your problem, but as the country is already in a recession the next dumb thing to do would be to put more people out of work. I'm not sure that you get the full picture or what type of work that you do for a living. But, when strip mining stops in your area so does every thing else. If people don't have money for anything they don't buy as many groceries, don't use restaurants as much, don't use day care facilities (not working don't need them), don't go to the doctor's as much (NO insurance that will make more people depend and qualifying for medicaid), and the trickling effect goes on and on!!!! This is another issue to make living in Eastern Kentucky an even better reason for Diana Sawyers to come again. Everybody get ready!!!! Because all the people that have nice stuff and can take care of themselves (without government assistance) are all going to be on the next 20/20

That's a nice letter, But while we're at it why don't we stop under ground coal mining to and just put three quarters of the great state of West Virginia out of work. Look deep mining isn't any better when the deep mines are done and closed up and left to sit as time goes on the mountains start to fall in. I just want people to understand that just because you cant see the damage doesn't mean that it isn't there!
