Paranoid Glenn Beck Assaults Youth Climate Movement, Calls Us “Hitler Youth”

Even if you don’t know who Glenn Beck is, because you might have the good sense to avoid blowhard talking heads on Fox News, he seems to think he knows who we are. He thinks the youth climate movement are “Hitler Youth”, brainwashed by Al Gore to lead us into fascism.

Glenn Beck said: “Well, tonight — oh dear, this may not go well — when I finish this story, some may believe we’re on the way to the Hitler Youth … Are we having the new Hitler youth? Is that what this is? The new Hitler youth? I’m sorry, that’s so politically incorrect. The new green guard.” Source

You can see his scaremongering for yourself, recorded by Crooks and Liars:

Well, I know who and what Glenn Beck is. Glenn Beck is a bigoted, paranoid liar who will stoop at nothing to smear and destroy those who he sees as foes to the voodoo economics and dirty energy companies his ideology supports. He is a fossil fool and he should be exposed as one.

For a sampling of his smears and lies:
The first environmental justice advocate elected to congress, Keith Ellison, also was the first Muslim representative. Rep. Ellison was a mentor to me and a proud American who has stood up against the excesses of the Bush Administration. What did Glenn Beck ask him, when Keith went on his CNN show?

“With that being said, you are a Democrat. You are saying, ‘Let’s cut and run.’ And I have to tell you, I have been nervous about this interview with you, because what I feel like saying is, ‘Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies.’ And I know you’re not. I’m not accusing you of being an enemy, but that’s the way I feel, and I think a lot of Americans will feel that way.” Source

Glenn seems to enjoy labeling environmental activists as fascists or communists or socialists, referencing Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth, saying It’s like Hitler” and denied Global Warming by using fossil fuel funded ‘experts’ on numerous occasions. Source

He also lied about oil production from the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, claiming it would produce seventy times more than it could and decades earlier. Source

The fact that someone who is a serial liar and slanderer has such a prominent position in our media shows how far we have to go. Glenn has a right-wing radio show, and has a national cable TV show. If you want to express how disappointed you are that Glenn Beck would smear the diverse and independent youth climate movement, that draws from communities across this country, from indigenous youth to evangelical youth.

What can you do?

You can email his producer, stu@glennbeck.com, to express your disappointment. In fact, I think Glenn Beck is a very good candidate for Countdown on MSNBC’s Worst Person in the World. Feel free to nominate him here: countdown@msnbc.com

I’m flattered. The youth climate movement is strong enough to be seen by an idiot like Beck as the major threat to his warped ideology. Not only that, but the best defense he can come up with is to spout nonsense that’s more likely to make HIS side look like the crazy extremists than anything else. Good for us – let’s annoy Glenn Beck some more!

I’m a young person and I agree with Beck. I don’t want to live in a country where the former vice president tells me not to believe my parents. I trust my parents, I don’t, however, trust people who are trying to indoctrinate me and tell me what to believe, which is exactly what Gore is doing.

I read this post and I was moderately offended, but then I watched the video and now I feel like I’m going to vomit. This dude sucks.

I side with you, Nick – I’m flattered. Such desperate fearmongering only marginalizes himself all the more. If our “opposition” has to resort to desperation farse, I say we’ve won that evening’s newscast. Cheers!

Glenn Beck has four children??!!!! Imagine what they’ll be like when they rebel.

I know who Xxxxx Xxxx is. He’s a guy desperate for ratings. Ratings are these contrived numbers that used to sort of reflect how many people might have been watching things on television at night at home. Ratings used to be important when companies advertised products in hopes of getting people who used to sit at home at night watching television to buy their stuff. That doesn’t happen anymore, but nobody told Xxxxx Xxxx so he and the people he works for are still gaga over ratings and they don’t have any. So he says things pretending he’s a thoughtful experty guy with important things to say. But he only says what he says to get ratings. Sometimes he says things that he knows the five or six people watching his program might want to hear so they will come back and hear pleasing things and he will get some ratings. And other times, when he is really desperate, like ever since he lost his job at another network that’s also going out of business soon, he says things that he hopes will stir things up in newspapers and on blogs so that his name will show up on Google searches and maybe that way he can get some ratings. But it doesn’t work like that anymore either. The most important thing to remember about people who are on television and need ratings to keep their jobs is that they will say anything to get ratings. When dealing with people whose main priority in life are ratings as opposed to, say, really CARING ABOUT PEOPLE or THE FUTURE OF ONE’s COUNTRY, it’s best not to talk about them or encourage them in any way, because inadvertently, just by acknowledging their very existence, one might, at a quantum level, unleash causalities that give people like Xxxxx Xxxx just what they want. Which are ratings.

So are you saying that Al Gore did not tell the 12 year olds that they knew things that thier parents did not know?

  13. 13 Harry Feb 9th, 2009 at 5:08 pm

If you people are our future, we are all doomed.

i agree w/ sparki, boycott his sponsors. that would be energy well spent.

The only fear mongers are those of you promoting your voodoo science. Very few of you have any scientific background or the education required to properly interpret any climate data. Instead, you take what others tell you repeatedly, and believe that they are your own thoughts.

Historically, politicians (or dare I say criminal organizations) have abused the blind support of youth to promote their own agendas. This is a historical occurrence that seems to endlessly repeat itself, regardless of which time period we are in.

The exceptional thing is that historically, those movements have died out. The hippie movement became the yuppi movement, which during the 1970s were worried about global cooling, and busy enjoying the excesses of a life with no direction.

Your movement is a blip on the radar, and self-delusion will not increase your actual influence or power. The environmental movement reached it’s zenith a year or two ago. Americans, and the world, have much greater issues to deal with – issues that are legitimate, proven, and not promototed by pseudo-scientists like Al Gore.

I watched Glenn Beck’s new Fox News show for the first time. I knew who he is but had never seen him. I started watching because it seemed silly and I thought at any moment someone was going to say “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!”. Then when I figured out that it really was Glenn Beck, I was too intrigued to turn it off. I try to listen to both sides of an arguement before deciding. I would laugh if I weren’t so scared. I mean, is this an Andy Kaufman thing? If so, hats off to Glenn Beck because that’s hilarious. Otherwise, he is right. I really do lump him in with the Holocaust deniers, he truely does sound just as ridiculous.
The whole segment on Al Gore was just stupid. Beck took everything he said and twisted it to somehow, for the millionith time, find a way to liken Al Gore to Hitler. People equate Hitler with pure evil and linking the two is yet one more way Beck is tricking stupid people into agreeing with him. No wonder Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting is not a big Glenn Beck fan. I am now officially dumber for having seen that.
