Bank of America, We’re Still Breaking Up With You

This Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 2009, join Rising Tide Boston (RTB) in demanding that Bank of America stop its funding of the dirty and deadly coal industry and demanding, in solidarity with City Life/Vida Urbana, stop its unjust foreclosures and evictions of working families. Closing your account with Bank of America (BoA) is an important step in bringing closure to this unhealthy relationship.

We’ve released our outreach brochure, “Are you in an unhealthy relationship with your bank? How to recognize it, get closure, and move on”. Below you can download a version that you can customize for your event: just add the date, time, and place! There are two files for the front and back side. I am a moon-watcher and star-gazer in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, and I just finished up studying anthropology at James Madison University in Harrisonburg. In order to more aptly manifest a cultural evolution towards love, balance, humility and freedom within every community I co-depend upon, I seek to organize, develop, promote and join with empowered communities of self-determination and liberty. What gets my heart elated is creating directly and democratically free-spaces, where we all can continue to co-create the world we wish to live in, die in, love in and sustain in ever dynamic, evolving, perpetuity. I dig dancing in the dirt, drumming with a waxing moon, and planting seeds that grow into great bearers of earth magic. I long for cool creek mud and warm forest moss beneath my toes. I stand in solidarity, fire in my heart and humble anger in my fists, with any person who rages against cages of oppression repressing their innate Divinity.

We’re actually just now (FINALLY) getting around to closing our BoA account. The old boss wasn’t too concerned with practicing what my employer preaches and chose BoA for general convenience.

Cheers to the new leadership here that’s getting our money out of this coal financier’s hands and to everyone else making these small steps, and more importantly a HUGE THANKS to organizations like Rising Tide for pushing on this issue.

It all comes back to the money…
