It can also be academically proved that McCain ran a substantially more negative and less truthful campaign. Should reporters truthfully report on this and fact check allegations for their audience?

Or should reality be set aside for an elusive attempt at being fair and balanced? (The tagline of a network notably unfair and unbalanced)
