I am not a Bush fan, but the left is the pot calling the kettle black. Liberals don’t seem to understand the very simple forces of supply and demand. Price can be reduced by only 2 means; either increase supply (like the Republicans have been trying to do with domestic drilling and the subsidies for it), or reduce demand (which everyone has been trying to do, but I give more credit to the liberals with this). Lack of growth in domestic supply is the single greatest cause of the high price of petroleum now. Think about who has stood in the way of that, and, if the shoe fits, wear it!

I cannot believe that BUSH is this dumb, or that David right
is so smart. Thanks for that insight !!!

Part of the problem is that Congress and president
aren’t really accountable for their actions.. Running
a country with waste, fraud, and decisions that
are not economically sound seems to be a recipe
for a forthcoming disaster. They are good with
rhetoric, but weak in really showing results.

Regarding the “free printing of dollar bills”, maybe
it was a dumb idea to go off the gold standard
in the first place?

Anyway, the retired congressmen won’t complain when price
hits $10 a gallon, because they will be living a cushy
life style from their lucrative pensions…. which
is probably better than any PENSION or 401k plan.

I also think Congress needs a quarterly PUBLIC REPORT CARD so that
they stay on track and serve the public’s needs, and
avoid getting sidetracked on their own personal
vendetta.

I think the USA is going down the tubes, and
it worries me.

I have read all the previous comments and frankly, I am surprised that no one gets it. Rising sweet crude is going up at a rate matching how quickly the US Dollar is going down due to inflation. Thanks to a number of issues…, financing the Iraq war.., corporate bailouts, along with providing financial support to foreign countries the dollar is reaching a point that it cannot compete globally. I predict 5 dollars a gallon by December. Merry Christmas. But do not blame OPEC.., blame the Federal Reserve for continuing to print money, thereby decreasing the value of the dollar.
