Make Your Voice Heard at Bali International Climate Negotiations

As some of you no doubt already know, important international climate change negotiations will begin in Bali, Indonesia next week. From December 3-14, representatives from over 180 countries will make critical decisions about the future of our climate, focusing on a post-2012 framework for international climate solutions. In addition to the 180 “official” governmental delegations and the hundreds of NGOs, over 160 youth delegates from across the world will be there representing the largest stakeholders in the international climate negotiations: us! Today’s young generations. As young people, it’s literally our futures on the line at these negotiations, and so it’s critical that our voices are heard, loud and clear. In 2005, hundreds of young people converged on the climate negotiations in Montreal, Canada, stirring things up and making a real impact on the negotiations. It’s Getting Hot In Here was born to give voice to the youth at the Montreal Negotiations, and continues to provide an outlet for news from the Bali Negotiations this year.Stay tuned here at It’s Getting Hot In Here over the next couple weeks and at a new site (set up by IGHIH’s blogmaster extraordinaire, Richard Graves), BaliBuzz, for frequent news and dispatches from the youth delegation “ground team” at Bali. And make sure you add your voice to the youth delegation on the ground so that our “official” delegations at the Bali Negotiations hears what the real delegation – the youth delegation – has to say.Avaaz and members of the growing global youth climate movement are sending a message to leaders around the world, urging them to take strong action at the conference. You can join in here to make our voices heard, since our generation will be more impacted by climate change than anyone else.Greenpeace and the Solar Generation are also offering an easy way to make your voice heard. Just click here to send another message. They are also inviting people to add a two-second video or animation to our around-the-world “message in a bottle” video calling for real action, which will be shown at the Bali conference. Contribute your clip!Make your voice heard, and keep up to date on the news from Bali here and at BaliBuzz.

Yesterday I began a fast that will last until the U.S. congress passes meaningful climate change legislation. I intend to take the Polar Bear Plunge on International Climate Action Day, December 8. What are you doing to make your voice heard?
