Van Jones is at it again! In his post on The Huffington Post, Mr. Jones sheds light on the overlooked Green Jobs Act of 2007. He points out that while the current House Energy Package that was introduced before the August recess, the Green Jobs Act is overshadowed by debate over the Renewable Fuels Standard/Portfolio, CAFÉ standards, the plight of the auto industry, and fossil fuel reduction systems. While these are issues are extremely important, we cannot overlook the incredible economic impact the Green Jobs Act of 2007 will have on rural and urban areas.
Jones points out that the Green Jobs Act of 2007 initial step in the green movement. According to Jones, “We must take smart steps to help ensure that those communities that were locked OUT of the pollution-based economy are locked INTO the clean, green economy.” Here. Thousands of jobs will be dedicated to people that have disenfranchised under the current “grey” energy era. These jobs are secured by the fact that all the services provided are exclusive to the United States.
Jones makes sure to credit all parties involved in the creation of the act. Jones praises Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, for her dedication to seeing this bill through. Jones states, “The Speaker is the first national leader — and the highest-ranking person in the U.S. government — to find a practical way to advance “green-collar jobs” as a cornerstone for the clean-energy revolution.”
So, are you tired of seeing the rich get richer by polluting our earth with fossil fuels. Do you want to see “Green Collar” jobs reduce American poverty in the emerging renewable energy based economy? If so, now is the time to take action and urge your representative to co-sponsor this landmark legislation
