For everyone that wears a suit to work or cringes at a piercing anywhere but in the ear, the idea of getting a Mohawk for anything is kin to coming face to face with Bush at Guantanamo. For many at Bonnaroo, however, the idea of getting a mohawk for clean energy sparked the imagination, the freedom, and the progressive nature that Bonnaroo evokes. Renegade, delinquent, outcast, words commonly associated with the historic doo quickly gave way to motifs of clean energy, community, conservation, and unity. Don’t believe me (I wasn’t so sure of the idea initially myself) just check out the 70 plus we serviced and the countless more who signed on in support. Be creative, be crazy, be fun and people will follow. Activism is a serious business and the time for change is always now, but that doesn’t mean that we have to forget how to enjoy ourselves along the way…just check out the photos.

Woohoo! It’s great to see so many sweet hair-styles for climate justice. Back in 2005, I was down at Bonaroo with the Road to Detroit crew dolling out hawks for clean energy. Glad to see the tradition continues. Keep those buzzers moving!
Best conversational mohawk I’ve ever gotten.
