Word is that there's been an agreement reached between the Democratic leadership (which controls the committee agendas) - i.e. Dingell and Pelosi - to drop the more controversial measures from the House energy package, including coal-to-liquids, increased CAFE standards and a renewable fuels standard/low carbon fuels standard. Also dropped were provisions that would have pre-empted states from regulating carbon emissions (thank God!).

Stay vigilante though. This is by no means the end of the coal industry's attempts to get federal subsidies for coal-to-liquids. We've won for now, but the war is still on.

Nice writeup. I wonder if there will be a renewed attempt via the House to add coal fuel to the energy package?
