This spring break students working with the Southern Energy Network joined with Change of Atmosphere to bring a green perspective to the Langerado Music Festival in Sunrise Florida.
The group, lovingly dubbed “Green-A-Rado” consisted of students representing various environmental
groups from Valdosta State University, New College of Florida, University of Central Florida, University of Florida, and University of Memphis. The group was brought together through collaborative efforts of Change of Atmosphere and the Southern Energy Network to educate, engage, and empower a greater understanding and excitement of sustainability for the individual festival attendee.
Based out of the Conscious Pavilion (the giant candy cane striped tent) were a whole slew of activist
staples including clean energy demonstrations, parades, petition signing (and shooting!), guerrilla-style street theater, Do-It-Yourself T-shirt stenciling, enviro-art and good old-fashioned conversat’in! Throughout the event filled weekend, the group hosted various recycling parades led by a flag guard, a percussion section, and recycling chants. Through this organic creation many Langerad-ians were infected with the viral thoughts of sustainability and solidarity. Green-A-Rado sparked a little something in everyone that will hopefully penetrate through to their daily lives and beyond.
Check out Change of Atmosphere or send an email to find out how you can get involved with similar efforts at other festivals this summer!
