Urban Outfitters is now selling coffee mugs that educate about global warming. When hot water is poured into the mug with a printed map of the world, the coastlines disappear as the sea level rises.
And yes, that is a string of greenhouse gases circulating the Earth.
Ridiculous? kind of. Empowering? probably not.
But is it a Fair Trade mug?
At least they got a free ad out of it. Or did they pay for their product placement?

Actually, I think the cup is kinda cool. If nothing else, it seems to me that it is a somewhat subliminal way to remind myself (should I buy one, which I’m admittedly not going to do) that the world is facing danger from global warming and it’s a good idea to try to do whatever I can to help prevent it.
DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT, wash that thing with scalding hot water or in the microwave! if you do, the whole world will go away..that’s what happened to me..sniff…
i got one of these mugs from working assets a year back. i hope working assets had a trademark on it – would hate to see all the profit go to UO
