So, the first 100 hours are long over, and I continue to be less then impressed with our current governing body. We’ve got Obama pushing a coal-to-liquids solution to our addiction to foreign oil, Cheney holding back laughs while Bush tells us of his great plan to fight climate change and State Agencies suing Katrina Survivors in New Orleans.
Luckily, everything isn’t sour on The Hill, a few glimmers of hope shine! These nuggets of progress come from people like Rep. Henry Waxman and Barbara Boxer who seem to really understand the urgency of this petro-chemical blunder. Unfortunately, we can’t leave this problem to them to solve!
We need to show these people we mean business! The voices of students and the drumbeat of progress are growing louder, with close to 500 campuses taking on The Challenge, making themselves and their schools into models of sustainability, all while showing the rest of society that the time for inaction is OVER!!
So lets take that drumbeat and our voices and focus them on Congress, The White house, Presidential candidates and all the other folks in Washington holding the bucket of water while our futures burn.
Today is a day for ACTION surrounding our Government and their piss-poor response to global warming. Students have already started, with over 800 Congressional Photo Petitions in (and hopefully hundreds more on the way to help us reach our goal of two thousand). We can’t confine this movement to the campus any longer. So get out there! Lobby, snap photo petition pictures, MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD!
Oh my gosh! That’s Bre! Elon represent, what what!
haha – SO glad you posted that picture. I can’t even tell you. haha
