This 11 min clip is classic Canadianna! David Suzuki interviews Preston Manning, former leader of the Reform Party of Canada.
Suzuki manages to create an open, tolerant, respectful, and safe space that is inclusive of Preston Mannings conservative, market based paradigm. I think that this safe space is the key to constructive dialogues that will eventually solve our sustainability problems.
(The clip starts to get more interesting around 7min.)
if you ever need anything to make you puke watch this youtube video about how awesome the tar sands are.
Hi Elissa
i tried to watch the Suzuki Presto video clip but apparently it is no longer available. yesterday i heard a cbc program about the tar sands and was alarmed at the huge scale it seems to have taken on all of a sudden. not so sudden i know but i think the operation is more on a what we don’t know won’t hurt us basis (me included) benefiting from the revenue here in alberta, we tend not to ask questions. also tarsands companies are rather “mum” with their words. my point was with regard to the video, i would have liked to have seen it. if you have a bit of wisdom to pass along regarding what an average person can do about this thoughtless oilsands development i’d appreciate hearing.
thanks,
Dagmar
